Monta
Vista Sports Camps
All of MV Sports Camps provide quality instruction
under the direction of varsity level coaches. Each athlete enrolled
will have the opportunity to enhance their skills in each sport
in preperation for the upcoming season. For our high school athletes,
it is also an opportunity to catch the eye of a varsity coach before
the season starts.
Our speed camps are designed for all of our athletes
that participate in sports that require speed, agility, and quickness
training.
Here is a rundown of how it can help you improve your
game dramatically :
What Our Speed Camp Can Do For You
Improving your speed, agility and quickness (SAQ) will dramtically
affect your performance on the field or court. The ability to run
faster, jump higher, change directions quicker, and beat your opponent
to the ball will help take your game to the next level.
Baseball / Softball
Flexibility
Hitting and throwing movements used in baseball require the core
muscles to perform under a considerable degree of stress.
Leg Strength
While hitting or throwing, the initial movement is initiated with
the legs. Developing strength and power in the legs is crucial to
the sports of baseball and softball. Plyometric training helps develop
these muscles and increase explosiveness and reaction.
Core Strength
During the hitting and throwing movements during baseball and softball,
your core muscles are put under a large amount of stress. To strengthen
these muscles and improve the rotational power of these movements,
a high intensity abdominal and core routine will be included in
each week's training program.
Anaerobic System
Baseball and softball are both anaerobic sports. The type of training
we implement to improve the anaerobic system includes sprint interval
training consisting of short, quick sprints.
Basketball and Volleyball
Speed Training
To increase overall speed and maximize the athlete's performance
on the court, we incorporate a variety of speed oriented activities
into our training program. Utilizing the latest in speed enhancement
equipment, athletes do resistance training, hill training, and over
speed running, as well as form running to insure proper technique
is used throughout each drill. It is also very important to develop
quick feet and coordination, so we have implemented a series of
rope jumping exercises into our daily routine.
Plyometrics and Strength
Most of the movements an athlete performs during basketball are
considered explosive and reactive. It also goes without saying that
every player wants to increase their vertical jump and play "above
the rim." To help our athletes develop these explosive and
reactive movements, as well as maximize the time in which they can
perform these movements throughout competition, we put each athlete
through an intense plyometric training program. Teaching athletes
the proper techniques for performing exercises such as skip hops,
½ turn jumps, bounds, rope jumping, and standing jumps, just
to name a few, will insure the athletes are remaining injuring free
while training at a high level of intensity.
Football and Lacrosse
Speed and Agility Training
We've all heard the saying, "Speed Kills." Well that is
not more true than in the sport of football. In order to perform
at a high level on the field, and separate from the opponent when
on offense, while staying close to your opponent when on defense,
a players speed and agility needs to be at a maximum. Whether in
football or lacrosse, speed and agility can separate great players
from average players. To help each athlete reach their potential
on the field, we train them through a variety of speed and agility
drills that reflect the specific movements they will perform in
real competition.
Plyometrics and Strength
Strength and power are two of the most important elements for success
in football and lacrosse. Most of the movements an athlete in these
sports will perform are very explosive and reactive, which require
a great deal of strength and power. To help develop these explosive
and reactive movements, we train every athlete with a plyometric
program which emphasizes the powerful movements of each sport.
Soccer
Flexibility Training
Like football, soccer, when played at a high level, can be very
physically demanding and stressful on the body. Every athlete must
take the time to prepare their body to endure the stress and pounding
it will encounter throughout the season. To improve each athlete's
overall athletic ability and decrease their chances of suffering
an injury, a program which includes PNF stretching, along with dynamic
and static exercises is one way we help our athletes increase their
flexibility and remain healthy.
Balance and Stability
One compenent of soccer that makes it unique is the demand it puts
on athletes to have superior balance and stability. An athlete may
be fast and powerful, but without good balance and stability, that
athlete is going to have a difficult time competing at a high level
in the game of soccer. Taking this into consideration when preparing
our training program, we have designed specific daily exercises
that will build strength along with balance and stability in every
athlete.
Plyometrics and Strength
Leg strength and foot quickness are essential to the sport of soccer.
Our plyometric program is designed to increase overall strength
and explosiveness, while increasing foot speed and quickness off
the ground. To further meet the needs of these athletes, we incorporate
plyometric exercises that increase explosiveness and power both
vertically as well as horizontally.
Tennis / Badminton
Speed and Agility
Throughout a tennis match, an athlete will perform hundreds of quick,
explosive movements in every direction. To prepare our athletes
to achieve the maximum performance they desire while performing
these repetitive movements, we have them train in a program that
stresses high intensity speed and agility movements with every repetition.
Plyometrics and Strength
To ensure our athletes are able to perform the explosive and reactive
movements in the sport of tennis, we train every athlete with a
plyometric program which emphasizes these powerful movements. This
program also develops the strength and power needed to help each
athlete reach their maximum potential in the sport. To further meet
the needs of these athletes, our program also emphasizes total body
conditioning, leg power and core strength and conditioning.
Track and Field
Speed Training
To increase overall speed and maximize the athlete's performance
on the track, we incorporate a variety of speed enhansement activities
into our training program. Utilizing the latest in speed development
equipment, athletes do resistance training, hill training, and over
speed running, as well as form running to insure proper technique
is used throughout each drill. Athletes will also be coached daily
on their overall running technique to help them run more efficiently
and with greater results.
Core Strength
The development of core strength is vital for achieving maximum
speed and velocity for track and field. When athletes are competing
in sprinting and jumping events, their core muscles are put under
a large amount of stress and must be able to maintain explosiveness
and power. To strengthen these muscles and improve the rotational
power of these movements, a high intensity abdominal and core routine
will be included in each week's training program.
Plyometrics and Strength
Leg strength and foot speed, as well as vertical and horizontal
jumping, are all essential to the sport of track and field. Our
plyometric program is designed to increase overall strength and
explosiveness, while increasing foot speed and quickness off the
ground. To further meet the needs of these athletes, we incorporate
plyometric exercises that increase explosiveness and power both
vertically as well as horizontally.
